I know we are still about 2 weeks out from it ( ok, and Thanksgiving too!) but I have already heard that Walmart will start Black Friday savings at 8pm THanksgiving Night??

Thats not Black Friday fun.  And I have been lucky enough to actually have had some FUN doing BF with friends.

It was about 9 years ago.  My friend and her sisters were planning the early morning outting and I decided to join them.  And I am still glad I did.  I didn't have a plan to shop...I was just headed out to see what it was all about.

First of all, the line of people WITH carts outside the walmart waiting for 6am was crazy!  And we joined right in.  Then we broke up into pairs and basically attacked the store like a military mission.  We even had walkie-talkies!  We would "walkie" each other on the finds and deals in the section of the store we were in and grab an item if someone needed one...or two!

Oh, don't get me wrong...inside the store was INSANE.  Isles jammed with people and carts...stalled and backed up for isles around the electronics departments.

At one point, I had become separated from my buddy and had to "walkie" for help!  I had become stuck in the candle isle and couldn't get out.  A friend was deployed to my rescue as we pushed and shoved our way back to the group for check out.

Then we headed to the next store with the same attack mission style.  Target had a not as frenzied crowd, but one still out for their prize.  I actually saw two ladies reach for the LAST item on a shelf and decide between them who would get it.  I even saw someone try to take something from someone else's cart.

My buddy and I had no items for this store, so we played Marco Polo over the "walkies" instead.  Great fun.

And after a successful mission, we retreated to the mall...where the craze had not yet hit the stores...and refueled at Cinnabon and reviewed todays mission and declared it a success.

Then I know I went home and took a nap!

But THAT was fun.  It was a great memory and time.  As more and more people buy online and use that ease....I think its a bit sad that stores are opening at midnite or now...8pm...to start the BF fun. I know that part of the move is to keep people from running over each other...there is no need for that to happen in the first place...seriously....but its just kind of sad to know that Fun like we had....won't be had like that again.

But I do have some great memories of it all!  And thats the best part! Laughing
