Why are we fearing a donut?? Really. They have been around forever and who can resist the shiny yumminess of a freshly glazed donut. Yum.
But when changing that donut into, say, a breakfast sandwich...we get scared.
Ok, nutritionally it does go against everything that we are trying to teach our young...to eat healthy and better then we did. But shouldn't there be room for a bit of fun?
Dunkin Donuts has created a huge stir this week by announcing that they will release their donut bacon breakfast sandwich starting this Friday, national donut day.
People are freaking out! In rebellion??
But now its coming out that the sandwich that is thought to be oh so evil, is only 360 calories. 30 less then the turkey sausage sandwich they offer and market as healthy. Ok, Ok,...so the turkey sausage does offer up more nutritional goodness then bacon and eggs on a donut...but stricly looking at calories? Winner! :)
Ok, Maybe! But if you think about it, they have something there with the sweet and salty thing going on...I would be willing to take a bite...or two!
And lets not forget too, this isn't the first foray of the mighty donut into the world of breads. Paula Deen has used a Krispy Kreme as a hamburger patty.
I don't think I can defend that one as well, but bless her!!!
